Chapter 2. Creating an Instant Messaging Address

Step 1

At the Login window, press the Sign Up button to open the Sign Up Wizard. In the wizard, press the Next button to begin.

Step 2

Enter your name as you want others to see you in the Name field and press the Next button to continue.

Step 3

Enter the address of the instant messaging server that you want to use. The pulldown menu lists several public servers. More public servers are available here: http://www.jabber.org/user/publicservers.php

Enter your password twice to make sure it is correct. It is best to use a password that you have not used anywhere else. When you are satisfied with your instant messaging address, press the Next button to register the address.

	Warning
	Your username may not contain spaces. Almost any other characters are allowed, including non-ASCII characters such as ñ or €.

	Note
	The username is not case sensitive.

Step 4

Your address is now being registered. When the address is successfully registered, press the Next button to continue.

If a problem occurs, check your network connection, change the information in Step 3, or configure the connection settings. Then try again.

	Note
	Pandion currently does not support proxy servers. These options are reserved for future use. Press OK to attempt to register the address again.

Summary

Your address is now ready to be used by Pandion or any other XMPP application.

Press the Finish button to close to wizard and to start Pandion.
